Parents/Guardians, it is important that you understand that gaining access to athletic scholarship opportunities worth more that $100,000+ in many instances is a very difficult and sometimes impossible task. There are no quick sure-fire ways and no "can't miss" processes to obtain a college scholarship for your son or daughter. The one critical element in the student-athlete recruiting game is national exposure. Make no mistake, just because your son or daughter is featured weekly in your hometown newspaper, most college coaches will never know. Simply because your son or daughter is good in their sport, there is little chance that college coaches will be camping at your doorstep. That is the reality of the multi-billion dollar college athletic sports and scholarship game.
It is also important to understand that just because your son or daughter receives a letter from a college or university, most likely they are not being recruited or considered for an athletic scholarship by that school. Their name has probably appeared on a mailing list and the letters normally are sent out in bulk mail by students performing work-study activities or internships. A letter on university letterhead guarantees little in most cases, except general conversation and a warm "fuzzy feeling." This is the reality of the recruiting process. So how do you increase the odds that your son or daughter will be considered for those much coveted 4-5 year, $100,000+ scholarship offers?
Athletic Consultants on Education and Sports (A.C.E.S.) is a full-service consulting group designed to assist male and female student-athletes in preparation for consideration of college athletic scholarships.
